Senior Software Development Engineer in Test(SDET)r

Job ID#: AWSA-25/2025/SDET

Location: Atlanta

Position Type: Hybrid

Experience: 5+ years

Job Overview

As a Quality-Focused Engineer with a coding edge, you’ll take center stage in shaping software that works flawlessly—by crafting test solutions that are as reliable as the products they support. You don’t just “test”; you engineer intelligent safety nets that catch issues before users ever see them. From the first commit to the final deployment, your influence will help ensure every release is sharp, stable, and scalable.

This isn’t a plug-and-play QA role. You’ll be designing and building automated systems, enhancing performance checks, and steering product quality across all phases of the development journey. Your impact will be seen in both the reliability of our releases and the growth of those around you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Map out what needs to be done, sort priorities with clarity, and deliver—always keeping an eye out for smarter paths or creative pivots when challenges arise.
  • Write clean, efficient code that integrates seamlessly with existing systems, with a strong emphasis on automation, error prevention, and timeliness.
  • Be present, vocal, and engaged in your team’s rituals—whether in daily check-ins, sprint sessions, or support rotations. Lead when the moment calls for it.
  • Respond to client needs with thoughtful, well-crafted solutions. Use your technical acumen to solve problems fast—without cutting corners.
  • Stay ahead of curveballs—whether shifting requirements, unexpected bugs, or tight deadlines—and recalibrate smoothly to keep things moving forward.
  • Keep communication crisp and purposeful—whether you’re updating status, flagging blockers, or breaking down a concept for non-tech stakeholders.
  • Review others’ work with care, improve internal documentation, and actively raise the bar for code quality and test reliability. Share knowledge, offer feedback, and mentor with intent.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience in a backend or full-stack software environment—this is a must.
  • A proven history of driving a software product across the finish line—you’ve owned projects, seen them through, and delivered with confidence.
  • Whether from a bootcamp, traditional degree, or self-taught grind—your background in tech speaks through your work, not just credentials.
  • You’re well-versed in the moving parts of modern software delivery—design approaches, test methodologies, version control workflows, and deployment routines are second nature.
  • You plan your work, honor your timelines, and own your responsibilities without needing constant oversight.
  • When things shift—and they will—you don’t panic. You adapt, recalibrate, and still hit the mark.
  • You’re grounded enough to accept feedback with humility and wise enough to use it to sharpen your edge.
  • Teamwork fuels you—you collaborate naturally, speak up respectfully, and know when to lead or follow.
  • Whether speaking to engineers or execs, you explain clearly, listen actively, and always steer conversations toward solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
